About Attorney Joyce Smithey

Joyce Smithey earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Pepperdine University in 1993 and her Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law in 1999. During law school, she served as a district court intern for the Maryland State’s Attorney’s Office and authored academic work on housing discrimination law. After beginning her legal career in New Hampshire, she returned to Maryland, ultimately becoming an equity partner and Chair of the Labor and Employment Practice Group at Rifkin Weiner Livingston LLC before founding Smithey Law Group LLC in 2018.

Ms. Smithey is admitted to practice in Maryland, the District of Columbia, New Hampshire, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
