Founded in 1950, the MAA AMC is described by the Mathematical Association of America as the preeminent mathematics competition for K–12 students. Depending on age and grade level, students may participate in the AMC 8, AMC 10, or AMC 12. The AMC 10 and AMC 12 also serve as the first step toward qualification pathways for prestigious international mathematics competitions, including the International Mathematical Olympiad.
