Every July 23, Gorgeous Grandma Day salutes the women who are done shrinking and ready to live out loud. This year, Lake Park Dental on Milwaukee’s East Side is raising a smile to the occasion, using the day to celebrate the grandmas of the North Shore and to talk plainly about something many of them quietly deal with: a missing tooth or a loose partial that has taken the fun out of laughing in photos.
A gap in the smile has a way of quieting a big personality, and grandmas around here have far too much to say for that. The good news is that the fix has come a long way. Lake Park Dental plans and places implants using CBCT 3D imaging for precision, and offers metal-free zirconia implants for patients who prefer no metal in their mouth. The work is led by owner Beau Schneiss, DMD, a Wisconsin native who returned home after eight years of practice in the Chicago area. Having gone through surgeries himself, he tends to think hard about patient comfort.
“Gorgeous Grandma Day is a great reminder to stop putting yourself last,” Dr. Schneiss said. “A lot of the women we see have been chewing on one side for years. When their smile works again, you can watch the confidence come right back. That never gets old to see.”
